MMeM, S15E33 – Oh My!

So now that it’s December, I’ve moved my weekend walking into the mall. Yes, I’ve become that “old”. I am officially, I a mall walker. Yes the mall here still exists, barely. Sure, there are some vacant stores that have signage touting future offerings, “Coming Soon! More Shopping Options!”, but they’ve been showing that for months now.

It’s a good place to go and clear your head as you walk in a climate controlled environment with little to no traffic to navigate. As I walk, sometimes I try to brainstorm about other business ideas for the malls across this country. The only thing I’ve come up with is converting one of the big vacant anchor stores into an Amazon delivery stop. No? See, this way people wouldn’t have to worry about porch pirates!

Nonetheless, as I was walking one Saturday, I almost tripped when I glanced at the signage in one of the windows of a store on the 2nd floor as I strolled along.

I was like, WoWsA! Would this poster have flown back some 30 years ago when I was a mall-rat teenager? Or, is it acceptable and does the business of effective marketing push through any #metoo noise here in 2019? I think its a solid example of the latter fortunately.

Then, a couple of weeks later, I saw this in the same store!

OH NO!

Now, one thing I am sure of is that this closing had nothing to do with that previous poster. See, it couldn’t have been but 25-30 people who even saw it anyway.

Well, at least this store is selling their fixtures, frames and racks oh my!
