MMeM, Vol.12 Issue 49 – ABC!

ABC, ALWAYS BE CLOSING !

A favorite movie of mine from a few years ago was Glengarry Glen Ross. If you’ve ever been involved in a sales force or a sales driven job, then you could appreciate this movie. It took me a few years to watch this movie after it first came out and then filtered down to cable and VHS/DVD (Millennials, email for VHS definition and relevance) Anyway, once I watched it, I loved it.

It was in my mind, the quintessential salesman, excuse me, salesperson’s movie all around. Whether it was the methods of selling, the art of the deal, the owning of a family room, the “leads”, cold calling, or just the “ABC’s” of selling – “Always Be Closing”, etc. this movie delivered all of it.

So, today after a doctor’s appointment, big surprise for me, I know, I saw this sign and it all came rushing back to me. Now, I get what this establishment was really getting at, probably. But, the salesPERSON in me saw it in an entirely different way.

You want that McRib…..don’t you? You NEED that McRib, right? You know it’s only a LIMITED time offer. If you don’t get it now, if you don’t pounce on this opportunity today, it’s going to disappear and you’ll miss out!

Ok, I know the manager is referring to hiring people to work the late shift, but this mindset is what I’m left with after sales jobs and movies to accompany them like the aforementioned Glengarry Glen Ross.

Plus, yesterday I wrote about Hardee’s and their Beer Flavored Cheese that you could drizzle on anything so this kind of equals out everything in the blog-o-sphere for me, in my sorry mind.
