MMeM, Vol. 9 Issue 32 – What are the chances?

With today being Selection Sunday for the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament, I usually try no to watch any games very closely. Over the years, I have noticed that inevitably I will fill out brackets with picks that happen from having recently watched a particular team’s game. That’s a mistake I’ve finally noticed. It only took me about 25 years.

But, I broke my newly established rule yesterday when I happened to watch some of the Big10 Conference Tournament. I’m glad I did because I saw something I never would have imagined.

All 15 players for the Michigan State Spartans team apparently have the same last name AND it’s “Spartans”! What are the chances of that?

Team names on the backs of jerseys where MOST teams put players’ last names or nothing at all.
