…how, HOW does no one get a picture of this?

Recently, there was news that dozens of people (by definition that has to be AT LEAST 24 people) saw a “UFO” in Texas. Observers said that it was a mile long and 1/2 a mile wide. That’s…pretty big. This unleashed the ever-ready stash of UFO information which has been reported around the world for decades.

Let’s think about this…

1. You saw a UFO? Well hell, let’s see the pictures or better yet the YouTube video! Wait..what? You didn’t get any pics? None!?!? UFO sightings used to seem believable back when Jethro didn’t have his Polaroid land camera sitting on the seat next to him in his truck. But today, when there is a camera built into EVERYTHING WE CARRY WITH US, how, HOW does no one get a picture of this? And, with all the news reports on this, none mentioned the fact that THERE WERE NO PICTURES. Please!

2. The closest, CLOSEST, solar system to us which is most like ours is Vega. Vega is only, ONLY, 25 light years away from Earth. This was the system that was referenced in the Carl Sagan movie “Contact” with Jodie Foster a few years back in which life forms contact Earth. Anyway, does anyone know how far 25 light years is? No? Ok, it’s only, ONLY, 146,864,728,800,000 miles away. That’s 146.8 TRILLION miles away. For perspective, consider this. The furthest, FURTHEST, we humans have managed to travel is the 238,855 miles to the moon, and that only took 3 days. So, conceivably, we could travel to Vega in only 1,844,609,434 days, or 5,053,724 years.

3. Obviously, if a UFO were to visit Earth its “drivers” would have to be much, MUCH, more advanced than us. They would have to have harnessed technologies that we can’t even fathom.

4. Finally, if there have been such highly advanced life forms capable of this kind of time travel to reach Earth, why would they try so hard to hide from “us” once they get here? Are they afraid that we’ll “chase” them when they try to leave? Maybe they know about the internal combustible engine, the iPhone (why they hide), and that we have virtually mastered gun powder! Yikes!

CONCLUSION: Maybe I’m a pessimist, but I prefer to believe that I’m a realist. There has to be life out there somewhere, it just hasn’t stumbled upon us yet. There was not a UFO in Texas recently, and there have never, NEVER, been UFOs anywhere near Earth. I’m sorry, I kind of wish that weren’t the case. But seriously, if something ever does visit us, it will let us know.

  1. I’m another midwesterner–just linked from a directory somewhere. This is a funny take on the UFO thing. I hadn’t heard about it actually. I like the buildings post below too.
