MMeM, Vol. 9 Issue 20 – Misrepresentations

…plot to mis-represent an event arising from the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Argo wins Best Picture at the Oscars. Hold onto your seats, this may shock you but apparently Iran has a real problem with this. Look, it’s been roughly 33 years since 52 Americans were held hostage within the American embassy in Tehran, Iran for 444 days. That is way too little time for a past, present, out of touch regime to get a grip on reality and just do the human ethical thing and say nothing.

Surprisingly (extreme sarcasm intended) Iran says that in addition to this being misrepresentation of “an event” arising from the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but that “Argo” was also nothing more than an ad for the CIA. Now that is nice complement and one that I hope is well noted. And if you don’t believe that “Argo” was a movie about a misrepresentation of an even arising from an Islamic Revolution then maybe you also don’t believe that one of the most oil rich countries in the world (#4 most oil produced) is only into nuclear research for energy production purposes.

The truth is all Iran is ever really after anyway. They published the truth about “Argo” winning the Best Picture Oscar.

GrowUpIranArgo

Oh, the picture of Michelle Obama reading the envelope of the Best Picture winner on the left is the uh, original version, and the one on the right is the Iranian version.

So maybe the world got the whole “Hostage” thing wrong. I’ll bet that the Iranian representation of the event is that it was a high stakes version of Hide-N-Seek or something.
