MMeM, Vol. 9 Issue 13 – Can’t ya hang it over?

…can’t you just hang it over the railing…

Pretty busy little news week I’d say huh? Let’s see, we had the California disgruntled LAPD formerly fired officer rampage, we still have the escaped prisoner from a transport vehicle in DFW, and last but not least the horror onboard the crippled Carnival cruise ship Triumph.

As everyone now knows, the ship carrying more than 4,200 passengers suffered an engine room fire Sunday night that incapacitated the ship leaving it adrift without power until it was finally towed to port in Mobile, AL on Thursday night February 14th.

Look, there were some horrible conditions and health scares during this time. Some passengers had to be evacuated because they were in need of medical treatments that were unable to be administered due to no power or refrigeration.

The part that I struggle with is the reports of all of the sewage that people had to walk through onboard for 5 days. Now, if this was because of plumbing back-ups that’s one thing, but I would hope it would have been announced that you were not to flush the toilet. Moreover, the first hand reports from passengers make it sound like people were relieving themselves within and on the ship everywhere. That is baffling to me.

The ship is 14 stories high with at least a dozen decks and is constructed in such a way so that getting to an outside view of the ocean is precisely the point of the entire experience. My question for everyone would be, can’t you just hang it over the railing and relieve yourself? Ok, if that’s not physically possible for someone could you reassign an ice-bucket to a new use and dump it over the railing?

I just thought that people who go on cruises have to spend a good deal of money, ergo they may possess a fair amount of intelligence.

That says “HELP”, or at least it’s supposed to according to CNN.

Yeah, scratch that… what I said about their having a “fair amount of intelligence” or whatever…
