MMeM, Vol.12 Issue 14 – Writing is hard

I sound like a broken record.

You have to love typos like these. Well, maybe YOU don’t, but I sure do. See, I find these incredibly hilarious. So often people view information on the internet as gospel and irrefutable. Yet the content there is only as good as the writers and editors that publish it.

This week the NFL released its 2016 regular season schedule with its usual fanfare. It sends the schedule out and it gets republished dozens of times with quips and comments about games and weeks, matchups and re-matches from last year so-to-speak.

One such match up featured the New England Patriots at the Arizona Cardinals at 8:30pm EDT on September 11, 2016, Sunday Night, on NBC. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that perhaps I’m missing something here with this article, but I’m not so sure as the article has since been taken down by FOX Sports. What do you think? Does something look ….amiss?

“Cardinals to open vs. Patriots on SNL.”

So, are the Cardinals and Patriots playing on Saturday Night Live? I guess that’s not too much of an impossibility considering inflate-gate, etc. Or maybe, the writer meant to type SNF for Sunday Night Football?

I know I sound like a broken record, but there are things that spellcheck doesn’t catch. Re-reading is still the first, best, and least followed lesson taught to writers.
