Fiscal Cliffs aside, Federal Holidays as long as there is such a thing should be forbidden to be held on weekdays that do not join with a weekend. That&#8217;s it, simple, necessary, let&#8217;s do this.<\/p>\n<p>A Federal Holiday observed day off on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday is useless. Now, if this were in the 2nd half of the year then maybe the day(s) between the holiday and weekend could be bridged by employee personal time or vacation days. Plus it&#8217;s too early and way too obvious to use a sick day as a bridge day. Please.<\/p>\n<p>An early in the year holiday with a day off on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday is one of those gifts from a distant relative that you&#8217;re not so excited about but you can&#8217;t just shun it either.
