Ok, for some unknown reason I bought and installed Windows 8 the day it came out. Sure I knew it was really more for tablets and touch screen computers, but I read the fine print saying it was good for regular old laptops and desktops too. And that’s what you get for actually reading anything these days, except this blog.

When people ask why I do things like this I always answer because I tend to be an “Early Adopter” and that seems to end the conversation. It’s true, I can’t leave well enough alone, ever. I used to think this and the fact that I read things were good things. They’re not. From now on, I’m going to be like all of my friends and click through anything before me without reading a word and try newly released software kicking and screaming. This has been the biggest learning experience I can ever remember through which I’ve forced myself.

I’m not going to bore MY readers to death with MY horrible experience trying to jam a square peg into a round whole. I sum it up like this, “You know how MS OS at work when from XP to 7 without ever even mentioning Vista? Yeah, well I told our head of IT the other day that 8 will NEVER be within the walls of this place, guar-OUNTEED.” He looked at me with a raised eyebrow and an expressiong as if to say, “No $#it Sherlock.” Yeah, I get that a lot.

If I had to do it over, the only way I’d by an 8 OS is IF it came on a free tablet too. Scratch that, a free tablet and a free iPad. Oh to be fair I’m sure I’ve complicated things myself. One thing I heard about 8 was that users hated how Windows OS’s (Yeah, I don’t know how to make that shorthand plural either) always have to restart after updates are installed. So Microsoft said, “Hey! we’ve solved that complaint with 8!” Not so fast there Bill. Yesterday I got this screen which is a little different than in the past>

So, rather than have restarts all the time, just save them up and let the user know that they will be re-booting in TWO DAYS!?!?!
