W<\/span>ell, here we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. We knew this was coming since December 2019. Yet, we seem to be woefully unprepared and I’m left utterly typeless. That is until tonight watching the nightly national news<\/a> about a story involving 2, count them TWO, conferences of medical providers that were held in destination locations this YEAR!<\/p>\n

One was a convention of ER doctors held in New York City around the area of Times Square. The other was for medical providers in HAWAII. Look, here’s the deal. This problem is on all of us. We all do this. We love to be social and use our employment as excuses to travel to exotic destinations for conferences and business meetings. The functions are of the most sincerest and important matters, of that there’s no doubt. But, every meeting, every discussion, every planning session can be accomplished today via teleconference or if that’s not good enough, VIDEO CONFERENCING, or even full Skype Business screen sharing.<\/p>\n

There is no excuse for this anymore. This travel is a waste of resources and air travel brings people from around the globe together speeding up the transmission of, oh I don’t know, COVID-19? Think I’m wrong? No, I’m not because the stories mentioned above highlighted to care providers who brought back COVID-19 to their respective hospital co-workers and possibly worse, patients.<\/p>\n

Just stop it. We have had the ability to limit and, or eliminate unnecessary travel for decades now. Quit playing with human lives, the carbon emissions to our planet and STAY PUT!<\/p>\n
