O<\/span>k, so it was recently announced that a special planet has been discovered in this massive unending universe of ours. More specifically, it appears to be in a “Goldilocks Zone”, meaning that it may have characteristics to support life. Moreover, it might even be a “potentially habitable planet<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

This planet has been dubbed Proxima b<\/strong> and orbits around the sun Proxima Centauri<\/strong><\/em>. This is even more extraordinary when considering the report that Proxima Centauri is the CLOSEST STAR to US other than OUR OWN!<\/p>\n

HOW. I say again, HOW, are we just NOW finding this Proxima b planet? Look, I get it. There are billions of stars and planets, actually there are potentially, in human understanding, NEVER-ENDING numbers of stars and planets. We have gone as far as our MOON. In galactic neighborhood terms, we haven’t even gotten out of the cul-de-sac yet. Now, when faced with an infinite number of possible planets in the search for life, HOW do we NOT start NEXT DOOR FIRST?<\/p>\n

Say you go mushroom hunting. You get all of your hiking gear, vehicle, sacks, walking sticks, bug spray, and you drive to your hunting grounds. Do you A) Drive 100 miles into the area where mushrooms could be growing in search of them? or do you B) Start looking as soon as you reach the area where mushrooms could be growing?<\/p>\n

Now I’m sure there are many benefits we’ve gotten from space “travel”, research, and experimentation, but I’m just not too sure what that entails. Other than GPS, Satellites, Satellite guided planes, satellite guided missiles, and oh yeah, TANG, I don’t know where $466 BILLION dollars has gone.
