MMeM, Vol.10 Issue 8 – Yo, check your 6!

As …they have any oil?

Be honest, before the last couple of weeks had you ever heard of Crimea? Makes you feel like those people on the streets caught in a Jay Leno question about common knowledge doesn’t it? You know the ones, where Jay points to an American flag nearby and asks them how many starts are on that flag. They answer with, “I can’t tell, it’s waving in the wind too much.”

Well, I don’t know where this will all end, in fact I barely understand the geography or who’s loyal to who or who wants what to happen. But, when they start talking about how maybe NATO and the U.S. should possibly put “boots on the ground” to settle things, I’m really at a loss.
Before we commit to something like that, shouldn’t we find out first if they have any oil? I mean, that’s what everyone thinks is the only reason we get involved with anything around the globe anyway, right?

I loved Putin’s recent comment about the U.S. being interested in things like we’re watching rats in an experimental maze or something. He said, “Our friends across the pond, …”. Hey look, we’re more than friends across the pond. Please, Putin, update your metaphors a bit. In fact, check your six, cause we’re right behind you next to your back door.

Or as an Alaskan governor once put it, “I can see Russia from my house.” lol  Ok, actually she never said that. That was said by Tina Fey doing a Saturday Night Live sketch. What Palin actually said to Charles Gibson on ABC News was, “”They’re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska”.

Defending Palin? Yeah I know. What has the world, err I, come to anyway?
