MMeM, Vol. 9 Issue – 91 Did You Know?

…but it was against the CUBS .

Everyone knows the story of Major League Baseball player Jim Abbott. He was the guy who made it all the way to the Major Leagues and he was born with NO RIGHT HAND.

You also might remember that not only did he make it to the big leagues, but once there he WON the Cy Young award (best pitcher in NL or AL league) and pitched a NO HITTER for the NEW YORK YANKEES! Sure, he spent a lot of his career in the American League where pitchers don’t bat. However, he also played in the National League for a while with the Milwaukee Brewers where he recorded 2 hits. Two hits by a one-armed man!

But, do you know what the most amazing part of that 2 hit part? Both hits were recorded against the CHICAGO CUBS. In case you didn’t know, I’m a long time suffering Cubs fan.

So, in summation, I don’t really know what part of that story is more amazing or predictable. I just hope that the fact that his two hits were against my Cubs doesn’t put that statistic in the “yeah…but it was against the Cubs” category.
